The Story

"City of God" is a 12-track album, the brainchild of music director and songwriter G.S.Nawepindiya. The music on the album has been produced by Trugg, Spacey, Nikka Sev and G.S.Nawepindiya.

This is a dharmik album - the lyrics and content focus on Sikh history, philosophy, culture and ethos.

Vision

We wanted to elevate dharmik music to the next level in terms of professionalism and quality.

Every single song was produced with love and soul, incorporating world-class musicians, meticulous production and top-level mixing and mastering.

We recognised that, up until now, dharmik music has largely been considered secondary to "mainstream" Panjabi music, as a way for bhangra artists to keep up their popularity/image with the Sikh following.

We wanted to change that and produce an album that competes with the best mainstream Panjabi music out there.

Execution

Over the past couple of years, G.S.Nawepindiya has worked heavily on coordinating the album. Once the lyrics were written, he directed singers and involved world-class musicians, spending countless hours in the studio with Trugg, who produced the bulk of the album.

Many hours were spent crafting the beats, coordinating the music and refining the sound to create 12 unique pieces of work.

Its release has gone on to set records for new records for Panjabi music - not just dharmik music - with its positioning in the mainstream and UK official charts, as well as the viral response to the album globally.

The album was funded by the production team and through donations. Every single penny from pre-orders, sales and streaming is donated to "Your Seva", a charity that helps poverty-stricken families in Panjab.
